School will be open for in-person instruction

Dear Families,

New York City public school buildings will be OPEN tomorrow, February 14th, 2024. All programs and activities will be held as scheduled.

We urge all New Yorkers to continue to exercise caution when traveling, use public transit whenever possible, and allow extra time for travel.

Pivot to remote learning on Tuesday, February 13

Dear Families,

Due to expected severe weather conditions, New York City Public Schools will pivot to remote learning on Tuesday, February 13.

While buildings are closed, school will be in session remotely for all students. Students in kindergarten and above will be expected to log on and participate in their classes from home.

Children attending LYFE or a 3K or Pre-K program in an elementary school or Pre-K Center should participate in the remote learning experiences outlined by their program.

All afterschool activities for Tuesday, February 13 will be canceled.

For information about digital learning tools, applications, and platforms used by the New York City Department of Education, please visit schools.nyc.gov/digitallearning.

Uniform & Supply List 2023-2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hope you are having a great summer so far. The time is coming to welcome back our students for the new school year 2023-2024. The P.S. 583 staff are looking forward to seeing the students next month. We are looking forward to having a spectacular and productive school year.

Here are the School Supply lists for the 2023-2024 school year. Students are expected to wear a navy blue top and khaki bottoms (pants, skirt, jumper). Students MUST wear their uniform on school trips.

Picture Day

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here is a reminder that Picture Day is Tuesday, May 3, 2022. To purchase the student's pictures, please visit the link below. Use the Picture Day ID: EVTX2WRKP. You can sign up and pay at the link below. Please bring your student to school on time. Pictures will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Reminder: Uniform is needed for the class picture.

Summer Rising 2021-2022

The Summer Rising program is open for K-8 students only. The Summer Rising Enrollment Portal will open on April 25, 2022, at 8 a.m. The Summer Rising Enrollment Portal will close on May 22, 2022. There are no paper applications! The Summer Rising program starts July 5th through August 19th. The academic program is from 8 am through 12 am. The Community Based Organizations (CBO) will conduct the enrichment program from 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Department of Education academic program runs Monday through Thursday. The Summer Rising program is led by the CBOs on Fridays. P.S. 119 will be the designated school for P.S. 583 students. This location is open until the capacity is filled. Once the site is full to capacity, the site will not be open for new enrollments.

Health Screening

All students and staff MUST complete a health screening each day before entering the building. It can be found on the DOE website and filled in electronically, using our QR code. The health screening can be translated into multiple languages. Please read, follow, and answer the questions carefully. Thank you for your cooperation. It's for everyone's safety!
